With Thanksgiving upon us, I waited until the last minute to decide what to do this year. Just stay home, which was appealing, or wait for that invite to someplace we might want to go. Well, the girls were staying in Spokane, so 1 option was to go to Audra's for the day. Wyatt wouldn't have to travel for that one. Most family in the Washtucna area were going to be away, and I didn't really want to go there anyway. So staying home looked to be the plan. That was until Aunt Betty called to see if we wanted to go to their house. She spoke with a little apprehension in her voice, as she explained at 81 she didn't know about having EVERYONE over. I set her mind at ease with the fact that Audra, Heather and all their family would be in Spokane, and it would be just the 4 of us. With that said, all was a go for Aunt Betty and Cousin Bruces house.

Now I felt horrible, they have lived at their new home now over a year and I still had not visited. They aren't that far away either. Kinda between Cheney and Spangle. We had to call for direction (even though Jeff had been their once, apparently he wasn't paying attention) and Jacob got lost at one point, coming from the Cheney way. We ended up meeting him on the road going one way as we were going the other. So we were all lost together in a convoy kind of way. Jacob, then us, then Wyatt who had followed us in from the Spangle direction.

If the roads were bad, or worse yet, the least bit foggy out, we would of been in a pickle.

But we arrived in good time, dinner was not yet served. 9 total; my folks, sister Pam, Jake, Wyatt, Jeff and I, and Betty & Bruce. Musn't forget their new golden retriever pup, Luke.

Adrian, Oregon

           Have you ever heard of Adrian, Oregon? I never have until last month. Adrian is home of the Antelopes, with green and yellow colors. With a population in July, 2021 of 177, Adrian became last weekend's destination. When I started doing half marathons 5 years ago, I regularly search on-line for races in my area and beyond.  My favorite is a half marathon calendar site. I search by date or state, Washington, Oregon, Idaho & Montana mainly.  Last month one called Owyhee off-road challenge caught my eye.  It had a 55K, half, 10K and 5K option. With the 55K (34.175 miles) in the works, I knew I'd have plenty of time to complete a half. With a 6 hour drive it took a bit of thought. This would be my first half since October, and with quite an elevation gain of 1377. But after looking at what I've done in the past I thought I could manage. ONCE UPON A DRESSER

Finished The dresser right out of Skip's barn Love the detail in the top drawer. Might be the only reason I bought it.  Now the work. Always more then I think needs done.  I wanted legs, so Jeff had to put supports and 1x4's in so I could screw the foot plates down. Then since the drawer tracks were broke and very wobbly we got new ones and he had to anchor a strip of wood to secure the tracks onto.  Now no more movement in the drawers, nice and smooth. After a few coats of primer, it is ready to paint.  If it looks a little gray, it is.  I had gray primer for some black pieces I painted a while back and it worked just fine.   (See 2009 Blog for black pieces) I did very little sanding to the top before I started and that was it. White paint & a few top coats. I did have to fill in and make new holes for the handles.  They don't make that size anymore. All done are ready to use. Still love t...

Repurposed window

I can finally write about another repurposed item. Actually this is only my 2nd one. You will have to read my Sept. 2009 blog for the other one. The recipients of this item, Paul & Bridget finally were given their wedding gift. There is a story behind this window: I retrieved this window some time ago from upstairs in my parents garage, where all old things go to retire. This window I could tell from the hinge holes and various colors of paint, green & pink mainly, that if came from my Grandma Cameron's house in Washtucna. It was in their bathroom but I couldn't tell you when it was removed. The process was relatively easy with Jeff and I both working on the frame. We removed the original glass, scraped and cleaned up the panes, along with the frame. After a few coats of white spray paint, we reinstalled the glass with putty.
